Gina's passionate and inspirational style of teaching is a balanced fusion of informed, flow-style yoga with healthy alignment, spiritual intention and humor. She is a nurturing, compassionate teacher known for her playful style of encouraging you to navigate your edge, open your heart and let go.
Gina had the unique opportunity to go on an extended sabbatical and be completely immersed in a yoga community at Sacred Movement Center for Yoga & Healing in Venice, California. There she gratefully served as an owner, general manager, yoga teacher, apprentice and avid student of yoga. She believes it is her blessed spiritual obligation to share the teachings of yoga and offers all she has learned from her teachers to all who are receptive.
"Gina Caputo loves yoga with a passion rarely seen. She is incredibly smart, sensitive, and alive with inspiration. A gifted teacher." - Max Strom
She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT) through Yoga Alliance and has met their national standards for education and continuing education. In addition, she has teacher certifications from Shiva Rea, Sacred Movement Center for Yoga & Healing and Erich Schiffmann. Her greatest learning experiences came in the traditional manner of teacher / student apprenticeships with both Shiva Rea and Max Strom to whom she offers deep, humble pranams for their trust and confidence. She gratefully continues to study with Shiva Rea, creator of Prana Flow® Yoga and is a Senior Teacher Assistant & Mentor in her Prana Flow™ teacher trainings, retreats and workshops around the country and internationally.
Living in the yoga epicenter that is Los Angeles also gave her the rare opportunity to regularly participate in a broad range of workshops and retreats with extraordinary teachers from around the world. She offers her respect and gratitude to Georg Feurstein, Dr. Paul Muller Ortega, Sarah Powers (Yin Yoga), Sherry Brourman (Anatomy), Saul David Raye (Thai Yoga Therapy), Dr. Robert Svoboda (Ayurveda), Paul Grilley (Yin Yoga), Denise Kaufman (Yin Yoga) and Mark Whitwell (Yoga of Heart).
Gina grew up in Northern California and received her Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of California at San Diego where she lived for almost 10 years. In 1999, she and her husband Jeff, a yogi and attorney, moved from San Diego to Blue Springs to be closer to her beloved family, who had moved to this area. Living in a smaller community has given Gina the opportunity to slow down and recognize that embodied, creative movement and self-exploration are essential methods of conscious evolution and discovering one's limitless potential!
Teaching yoga is Gina's greatest passion and truest joy.
